On April 21, 2024, Stephen Batchelor and I conducted a public dialogue at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Stephen has been a dharma friend and mentor for several years, and I’m delighted to have had a chance to share a segment of our ongoing dialogue with others interested in the intersection of, as in the title of the talk, the secular and the timeless. Our conversation starts at 10:41 (after introductions) in the video below. In the first part of the talk, I interview Stephen about his current book-in-progress, Buddha, Socrates, and Us. In the second part, which starts at 44:55, he interviews me about my monastic perspective and experience.
I’m also very happy to mention that in addition to the Yale YouTube channel, the talk appears on the website of the Secular Buddhist Network.
Finally, for the record, here’s the flyer…
